Green geeks rejoice: Here are two phones for you

leave a comment »

For all you green geeks out there worried about climate change and recycling your old phones, here is something that will brighten up your day. Russian cell phone maker, Gresso, has come out with a phone made from MPingo, an African blackwood. What is so special about this wood? Gresso uses 200 year old, grade A wood material which is very expensive on the commercial market. These phones sell for 3500 Euros.

If the MPingo phones are too expensive, consider this concept phone made out Maple wood. It is a slider with touch keypad, camera and MP3 player. It also has an LCD screen that slides out. No release date or pricing has been mentioned. However, given the wood used, it should be much cheaper than the MPingo phones.
